With the best Big Ten start in school history, an undefeated road record and the moxie to rise above an array of injures and illnesses, the MSU men’s basketball team looks to be in prime position to win its first Big Ten Championship since 2001. Cubcakes make adorable treat

There are two things I love above all other things: baby animals and baked goods. So, when I came across a picture of the adorably named Cubcakes, I jumped at the opportunity to personalize them to my liking and have a little bear cub forest of my own.

Acquiring dance skills part of coming of age

I couldn’t tell if she was trying to dance with me or if the room was crowded — an all too common problem in the throbbing masses of people dancing to blaring music. Growing up in metro Detroit and raised as a Polish Catholic, dancing was never a social skill that was emphasized or encouraged (see “Polka”).

Atrocities reach across the aisle

Ah, the sweet fruit of change. How marvelous it is to have a president in the White House who challenges the oppressive systems that have held down the majority for so many years. While some of my less cynical cohorts bask in ejecting the militaristic former President George W. Bush from our nation’s highest office, I seem to be left virtually alone in my disgust at what should amount to scandal in a changed, better world.

COMMENTARY

Budget cuts should not target education

There are plenty of places to make cuts in the state budget, and many of Gov. Jennifer Granholm’s suggestions make sense. But the cuts to education — the largest proposed by Granholm — will continue to impede the state’s chances at an economic recovery.
