Mismanagement of credit cards happens because of inexperience and lack of knowledge, not always because one is young. There are responsible and knowledgeable 19-year-olds who use credit cards correctly, while a middle-aged adult might rack up mountains of debt.

MSU hosts first major FRIB project discussions

More than 200 scientists from across the globe gathered in East Lansing this weekend to discuss plans for the $550 million Facility for Rare Isotope Beams project. In a three-day gathering that will conclude Monday, the scientists are hashing out equipment plans for the particle accelerator expected to be completed by 2017.

14 teams work on films for 48/5 contest

14 filmmaking teams competed in the East Lansing Film Festival’s 48/5 competition. The teams had to create a five-minute film in 48 hours using three required elements and a randomly assigned genre. The contest’s winner will be announced Monday night.

Campus group hosts 15th annual Latin Xplosion

Cultural de las Razas Unidas hosted its 15th annual Latin Xplosion “Carnival” Friday at the Auditorium for more than 500 students. The cultural show consisted of 14 acts including singing, dancing, poetry, a band and several fashion shows.

Columbus, Ohio — After seeing its 13-point lead turn into a three-point deficit, the MSU women’s basketball team was on the verge of a crushing defeat to No. 7 Ohio State. In front of a raucous crowd of 11,827 at Value City Arena, the Spartans turned to junior guard Brittney Thomas.

Icers' weekend split key for CCHA Tournament seeding

Friday’s bus ride home from Big Rapids wasn’t fun for the No. 12 MSU hockey team. The Spartans had just played one of their worst games of the season, losing 4-1 to No. 14 Ferris State. MSU looked completely out of sync, and after the game, head coach Rick Comley called out his team’s work ethic.

When food service management senior Tom Chodl and his roommates agreed to paint the living room area of their apartment a darker shade, they thought it would be a simple task to get the white color back by the end of the semester.

2,822 homes get food

About 5,000 volunteers from 33 different churches came together to distribute almost 3,000 boxes of food to families across Greater Lansing as part of the Church of Greater Lansing’s Food Drop 2010. The Church of Greater Lansing is a network of churches in the Lansing area, and most are Christian denominations.
