Deceased student had yet to take classes at MSU
On Jiayi Dai’s last post on Instagram, there are comments wishing for her to rest in peace -some in English and some in Mandarin.The 19-year-old MSU student from Beijing, China was found dead in the 300 block of Pin Oak Lane in East Lansing Saturday morning.According to her Facebook page, it wasn’t Dai’s first time in the United States, but it was her first time in East Lansing.

Similar to the football team, field hockey looks to solidify place in national spotlight this season
This fall, there is one team at MSU that is vying to defend its Big Ten title after a season in which an extended tournament run wasn’t initially expected.No, it is not the Rose Bowl Championship football team. It is the Spartan field hockey team, fresh off an Elite Eight appearance in the NCAA Tournament, that will look to exceed expectations once again in 2014.

The women's soccer team continued its solid start with a 1-0 victory over Cal State Fullerton on Sunday.The visiting Spartans (2-0-0) jumped out to an early lead when freshman forward Jamie Cheslik scored in the sixth minute in what proved to be the game-winning goal.

Women's soccer defeats San Diego State in season opener
The women’s soccer team kicked off its 2014 season last night, securing a 3-1 victory over San Diego State.The Spartans scored the first goal on a penalty kick by junior defender Mary Kathryn Fiebernitz at the 11th minute, and followed it up with another goal from redshirt junior forward Rachel VanPoppelen in the 29th minute.

A 19-year-old female was pronounced dead this morning when the East Lansing Police Department responded to a report of an unresponsive person at an address in the 300 block of Pin Oak Lane.
