For the first time in a while, MSU strung together a performance that left viewers with positivity, as one of the usual suspects had a dominant game and a few other Spartans reminded us of their importance. Senior forward Branden Dawson had yet another terrific Big Ten performance, scoring 17 points and collecting 10 rebounds in a 71-51 victory over Rutgers.

Students voice concerns at task force town hall

More than 200 students filed into the Brody auditorium last night for the MSU Task Force on Sexual Assault and Relationship Violence town hall meeting. The Task Force’s goals for the meeting last night were to provide a review of MSU activities related to sexual assault and relationship violence related to recommendations made in the 2014 task force report, review what MSU has been doing to help students effectively and ineffectively, and to get input from members of MSU’s community. It was apparent last night that students care deeply about the issue of sexual assault and relationship violence on campus.

Super Bowl appearances not uncommon for Spartans

By the time the Super Bowl arrives on Sunday, as the Seattle Seahawks will make their second straight appearance against the New England Patriots, it'll mark the first time in five-years that a former MSU Spartan wasn't on an active roster.  Kellen Davis, who is currently signed with the Detroit Lions, grabbed his first championship ring last season with the Seahawks following their trouncing of the Denver Broncos at MetLife Stadium.  The Adrian, Michigan native earned All Big-Ten honorable mention honors during his senior year with MSU, before being drafted in the fifth round by the Chicago Bears.  Kevin Vickerson, who signed with the Kansas City Chiefs at the beginning of the season, was placed on injured reserve more than a month before the big game during his tenure with the Broncos back in 2013.  The 6-foot-5, 328-pounder was drafted out of MSU by the Tennessee Titans back in 2005, after spending his high school career with Detroit King.
