E.L. Farmer’s Market seeks applicants

The East Lansing Farmer’s Market is seeking applicants for harvesters and producers to sell their wares. This market debuts this summer at Valley Court Park. It will be open 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sundays from July 12 to Oct. 25.

MSU would see a $9 million, or 3 percent, cut in state funding under Gov. Jennifer Granholm’s budget released Thursday, which could be a significant financial blow to the university as Granholm urges higher education institutions to freeze tuition.

Rivers near flood stage

Get out the rain boots, but don’t hang up that winter jacket just yet. Melting snow and rain have caused area rivers to reach near-flood stage, prompting the National Weather Service to issue a flood warning for the Lansing area. Both the Red Cedar and Grand rivers are expected to hit flood stage sometime today.

Students looking to dump old TVs and computers before the upcoming transition to digital TV can do so on Saturday at the Ingham County Road Commission facility, 5613 S. Aurelius Road, in Lansing, as part of a recycling program.
