E.L. will implement new curbside recycling this fall

East Lansing has received a $125,000 grant from The Recycling Partnership to assist with a new curbside recycling system later this year. As a result of the the grant and matching funds from the city, new 96-gallon carts will be rolled out to East Lansing residents at no cost by early to mid-October.

VIDEO: Summer Solstice Jazz Festival celebrates 19 years of music and art

The 19th annual Summer Solstice Jazz Festival on June 19-20 featured musicians from all over the world and provided pivotal experience to youth jazz players. The festival was presented by the City of East Lansing, MSU College of Music and the Wharton Center for Performing Arts; with artistic direction from the director of Jazz Studies at MSU, Rodney Whitaker. “My favorite part is really hearing everybody perform, that’s what this is all about,” said Whitaker.

VIDEO: East Lansing Farmer's Market kicks off seventh season

East Lansing Farmer’s Market began its seventh season on June 7 with vendors selling produce that ranged from organically-grown vegetables to homemade desserts. The market was filled with people all eager to buy homegrown produce. The vendors at the market come from all over Michigan and everything they produce is grown or raised in Michigan.
