U.S. Rep. Elissa Slotkin was live from Holly, MI to voice her confidence in reelection on Nov. 4, 2020.

Rep. (MI-8) Elissa Slotkin is projected to win reelection in Michigan.

As of Wednesday afternoon, Slotkin holds a 52,000-vote win in Ingham County and a 29,861-vote lead across two of three reported counties in the district, according to the Ingham County and Michigan Department of State websites.

Michigan’s 8th Congressional District covers Ingham, Oakland and Livingston counties. Slotkin is running against Republican Rep. Paul Junge.

In Oakland County, with 98% reporting across 106 precincts, Junge leads Slotkin by 12,390 votes — a 7.52% lead. Livingston County reports a 22,519-vote lead for Junge.

In total across the three districts, Slotkin holds 221,133 votes. Junge currently holds 203,662.

Slotkin went live on Facebook Wednesday afternoon to thank her supporters and to voice her confidence in winning reelection.

"As a member of Congress, constituents come to you and want to tell you about their pain," Slotkin said. "And then they expect you take that pain, carry it with you to D.C. and fight for them. As long as I represent you I will continue that fight."

She also said she believes Former U.S. Vice President Joe Biden will win in Michigan; however, there may be a tumultuous transfer of power.

Violence and threats related to politics must be condemned, Slotkin said.

Recently, a violent voicemail was left at Slotkin's campaign headquarters. The call was traced to an Ingham County minor.

Additionally, the FBI thwarted an alleged plot to kidnap Gov. Gretchen Whitmer. Those involved also reportedly tried to identify the home addresses of law enforcement officials, among other violent threats.

After power is transferred, Slotkin said a period of healing will begin in which the United States comes together, partisanship aside.

"I refuse to believe that our politics will simply be this toxic from here on out," Slotkin said.
