Michigan State University is searching for a Multicultural Development Coordinator to run the planned multicultural building, a feature of student demands outlined in a 10-point plan for diversity, equity and inclusion on campus.
The Multicultural Development Coordinator will assist in establishing opportunities for institutional diversity, equity and inclusion education for students, staff and faculty, according to the job posting on the MSU Careers website.
The Multicultural Development Coordinator will work in the Office for Inclusion and Intercultural Initiatives as a member of the support staff.
The Multicultural Development Coordinator will be responsible for helping raise awareness and addressing issues of racism and hate on MSU’s campus, including implicit and explicit bias, microaggressions, social justice, intersectionality and inclusiveness, according to the website.
According to the job listing, MSU requires the candidate to have five to eight years of related experience in diversity programming and problem-solving with diverse populations as well as “demonstrated ability to work effectively with individuals and groups with various roles ... and from a variety of identities, cultures, backgrounds, ideologies, populations, including personal and social orientations.”
MSU will stop bidding applicants for the Multicultural Development Coordinator at 11:55 p.m. Tuesday. Applications close March 3.
