—The search for Michigan State's next provost will be open, President Samuel L. Stanley and Trustee Dianne Byrum confirmed during a press conference after the Board of Trustees meeting Friday.
The search comes after former provost June Youatt resigned in early September.
The search committee will be announced this week, Stanley and Byrum said during the press conference. It will be composed of tenured and tenured-tracked professors, as well as graduate students and deans.
Stanley said he wanted the committee to be composed of a group most representative of MSU as a whole.
The process will include the search committee recommending finalists to Stanley, who will then identify the provost-elect, Byrum said. The Board of Trustees will then vote on their approval at a board meeting.
While the search process is underway, Teresa Sullivan will be serving as interim provost through the end of the academic year.
