The Michigan State Board of Trustees approved a budget that included raising the wages of returning MSU employees by 4%. The new pay rate was put into effect Aug. 4.

The raises apply to hourly positions, but not to graduate-level assistantships.

Both the minimum and maximum wages have been raised after the state of Michigan raised the statewide minimum wage to $9.45 per hour.

This isn’t the first time MSU has raised wages for returning employees. The increases came as recently as 2017, to follow with state minimum wages increases.

Student employees were notified of the pay raise via their student emails on Aug. 26. The email came from the Human Resources Department.
