Ex-MSU football player Auston Robertson will be starting his football career anew. A judge in Ingham County Circuit Court ruled Tuesday Robertson will be allowed to play football for a community college in Kansas, according to the Lansing State Journal.
Robertson is being charged with two counts of third-degree criminal sexual conduct after allegedly raping a woman in her apartment while his girlfriend waited in the car back in early April. If convicted, Robertson could face up to 30 years in prison.
Circuit Court Judge Clinton Canady III granted a request by Robertson's attorney, Brent Leder, to amend Robertson's bond and allow him to travel to Kansas, the Journal reports. Robertson has been accepted to attend classes and play football at Garden City Community College.
GCCC defeated Arizona Western College in last year's NJCAA Football Championship.
Initially deemed a flight risk for fleeing to his home state of Indiana after the alleged incident, Robertson has since been living with an uncle in Columbus, Ohio, according to Leder. Canady rejected the defense's request to remove Robertson's GPS tether.
Robertson, 19, was initially charged with one count of criminal sexual conduct when he was arrested on April 22. After hearing a testimony from the alleged victim on July 22, a judge in District Court ruled to add another count.
Robertson was dismissed from the MSU football team in late April.
