In the same report card grading MSU's campus food and party scene an A+, the university flopped on drug and alcohol safety, earning a D+ because of poor student reviews and numbers of alcohol and drug related arrests and referrals reported by the university.
The 2015 report card was compiled by Niche, a website that provides college ranking and reviews based on student surveys and reported university figures.
The high marks in campus cuisine helped place MSU at No. 20 out of 50 U.S. universities for best on-campus and off-campus dining options in a recent Business Insider list.
As for the the party scene, MSU earned an A+ based on positive student surveys that indicated MSU and the surrounding area as having an affordable nightlife, a vibrant party scene and a student body that is friendly and interested in partying.
The poor performance on drug and alcohol safety was largely driven by 238 surveyed students, or former students, reporting that the university fell short on the following factors: "that drug and alcohol usage is very low on campus and does not play a role in student life" and that "there is little or no peer pressure to use drugs or alcohol and that underage drinking is not prevalent in the campus community."
Taken into lesser account is the drug and alcohol related arrests and referrals.
