The men’s soccer team is moving on from sweetness to eliteness, as the Spartans beat Western Michigan in the Sweet 16 Saturday night, 2-1, and will advance to the Elite Eight to face the No. 2 seed Indiana Hoosiers. This is MSU's third Elite Eight appearance in the nine years head coach Damon Rensing has been at the helm.

In their regular season finale, the No. 7 MSU men’s soccer drew with No. 2 Indiana Saturday at DeMartin Stadium 1-1, finishing second in Big Ten on Senior Day. MSU finishes the season at 11-2-3 and 5-0-3 in conference play.

The MSU women’s soccer team hosted the Michigan Wolverines on Sunday afternoon after having to postponed yesterday, and came away with 2-1 giving MSU its second Big Ten win of the season.

The No. 6 Spartans took on Penn State on a rainy Saturday afternoon, coming away with a 1-0 victory and giving head coach Damon Rensing his 100th career win at the helm of the Spartans program. The No. 4 MSU men’s soccer team is off to a hot start to the season, having a 7-0-1 record, which makes them the first undefeated Spartan team this far into the season since the 1968 team, even though they fell short to starting 8-0-0 like the 1968 team did all those years ago. Editor's Note: at time of publication the Spartan record was 7-0-1. They have since lost to Akron 4-1 and their record is now 7-1-1.
