Sir Pizza will hold a grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony for its new and fifth location in the Lansing area at 11:30 a.m. on March 3.
"We’re not new here, it’s just a new store," CEO Dennis Voketz said. “We’ve been in the greater Lansing area for over 50 years."
The new location is at 2650 E Grand River Ave., which is at the corner of Park Lake Road and Grand River Avenue.
"The reason we picked it is because it’s in Meridian Township, but the address is East Lansing," Voketz said. "East of it is Okemos and Haslett, which we can deliver to, and west of us is East Lansing and the campus. We’re sort of in the center of those three communities."
Sir Pizza will also deliver to MSU, Voketz said.
“Hopefully we’ll draw students, but hopefully we’ll draw in a community," Voketz said.
Voketz said he believes Sir Pizza is different from other pizza places for a couple of reasons.
"We don’t have that big ring around (the pizza) that’s all dough," Voketz said. "Our pizza is clear to the edge. ... All of our ingredients go right to the edge.”
The toppings are also chopped before they are placed on the pizza, Voketz said.
"If you take a round piece of pepperoni (on a pizza) and take a bite, you might get just a piece of pepperoni — with ours you get a little bit of everything," Voketz said. "When you take a bite, you get a taste of everything, not just one item."
According to a press release, on March 3, 4 and 5 a one item, eight inch pizza is free with the purchase of a large drink.
On Jan. 10, LOTSA Stone Fired Pizza opened a new location and Blaze Pizza is scheduled to open a location this spring. Both businesses are located on Grand River Avenue in East Lansing.
