Spartan gymnastics now looking to improve on details after loss to Western

msu roster - http://www.msuspartans.com/sports/w-gym/mtt/msu-w-...msu schedule - http://www.msuspartans.com/sports/w-gym/sched/msu-...meet recap - http://www.msuspartans.com/sports/w-gym/recaps/022...head coach kathie klages - we're just focusing on the little things now, like eliminating landing deducting, which we improved on at this meet. we're working on keeping our legs together on bars, landing deductions, having straight arms. we want to make practice more like competition setting. we were pleased with the score being higher, but were disappointed on floor when we didn't do as well as we wanted. we competed floor third and we were tied going into that event so the coaches were confident, but we lost with two kids' falls on floor - lagoski and levy. they finished strong on balance beam and they fought through the meet and the mistakes. they'll build confidence from finishing strong. western improved massively since december until last week, i don't know what date it was exactly. that night they were on point and deserved to win. it was a situation that we counted a fall and they didn't. holmes stepped up at the last second, we had a fall on warmup and she went in at the last second. it was the first time she competed all-around.junior ashley noll - our mindset is a bit more confident to have a good victory next time. we kept the energy going and when we made the mistakes our confidence dropped so that was what go us. western gymnasts were probably nervous going in, knowing that they lost the first time we competed. they wanted to redeem themselves. we're focusing on competing like we practice. we're building to move forward and to do better this week.sophomore lisa burt - going into the meet i wanted to do my best for the team and bring the score up, and after i had won i was really happy. i'm happy to know i'm back to where i was last year. we're going in being more confident and energetic this week. we knew what we had to do. our warmup wasn't great, so we had to work even harder. we have to work on the little details like having straight legs, pointing out feet, sticking our landings, hitting everything. it's not just hitting our routines, we have to know we have it all together.sophomore brittany holmes - i was excited to know i was competing all-round. it was the first time i placed and my first 9.825 ever. i was just excited, like 'finally, i did it.' it's always either i'm off or the judges are not scoring high enough. we've been doing different assignments, like competing with pressure. and that's going to help transferring better to the competition floor. now i think we're going to focus  a little more on the individual assignments. the big picture is fine, we just need to fix the little details.if you need anything, my number is (248) 464-2993
