Three gymnasts heading to NCAA Regionals

As three MSU gymnasts head to compete at the NCAA Regionals on April 5 in Baton Rouge, La., they go in with the support of their team.Junior Alina Cartwright, sophomore Lisa Burt and freshman Elena Lagoski qualified for the meet with dual meet scores throughout their season, as well as their high performances in the Big Ten Championships. Cartwright and Burt are making the trip for the second year in a row and will compete in the all-around competition.

The 2013-14 men’s basketball season just ended three days ago, and you know what that means — the next season has already begun. Seniors Keith Appling and Adreian Payne won’t be on next year’s roster, and there could be a few more departures this offseason as well.

Spartan baseball takes two in road trip

By Robert Bondyrbondy@statenews.comTHE STATE NEWSnnMSU baseball used a surge of scoring and stellar pitching in a doubleheader Sunday afternoon to salvage a series victory over Minnesota, improving to .500 in Big Ten play.After dropping the series opener on Saturday, 4-2, the Spartans were able to win both games on Sunday, keeping the Golden Gophers scoreless in both games.

NEW YORK — It’s been said over and over again – this MSU team has never been to a Final Four.They were 40 minutes away from one on Sunday in “the city that never sleeps,” but MSU said goodnight to their season as they fell 60-54 at the hands of UConn.
