W hat does the President of the United States have in common with ESPN analysts and hundreds of MSU fans? They all predicted the Spartans would be NCAA champions.

Friday night’s game versus No. 1 seed Virginia, set to tip at about 10 p.m., has a lot on the line— including a trip to the Elite Eight and a shot at the Final Four for MSU seniors Adreian Payne and Keith Appling.

Anastos says MSU hockey must score to improve

The MSU hockey team took the ice last Thursday against the Ohio State Buckeyes in the inaugural Big Ten hockey tournament and suffered a 2-1 loss in overtime, a microcosm of how the entire season went for the Spartans.The Spartans finished a disappointing 11-18-7 on the season, going 5-9-6 in the first season of Big Ten hockey conference play.

Slow second-half start dooms MSU women's basketball

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — Entering halftime, No. 5 MSU couldn’t truly complain about where they were, only trailing No. 4 North Carolina by nine. The Spartans had committed 10 turnovers, shot an abysmal 32.1 percent from the field and leading scorer freshman guard Aerial Powers was scoreless after picking up two quick fouls.
