Although it is one of the most recognizable student sections in college basketball, the Izzone typically went unnoticed on TV during Spartan basketball games. Instead of getting a glimpse of some of the 1,500 screaming students bouncing up and down, anyone watching the game more likely was going to see a section of alumni, family and recruits. Starting next season, though, the perspective will be slightly different for TV viewers, as the lower section of the Izzone along the sidelines will be moved to the other side, putting it front and center on TV.
Most 3-year-old girls tend to have pretty typical goals for their future. Some want to be ballerinas, others want to be movie stars and some dream of being a princess. On the final day of action at the NCAA East Regional in Greensboro, N.C., four members of the MSU track and field team did well enough to advance to the NCAA Track and Field Championships, starting June 8 in Eugene Ore. Among the many Spartans to record personal or season-best marks was senior triple jumper Kryon Foster, who jumped a season-best 15.79 meters. His leap was good enough for sixth place and a spot in the championships.
After an impressive first day for the MSU track and field team at the 2010 NCAA East Regional in Greensboro, N.C., day two Friday also proved to be successful. Two freshman Spartans, hurdler Keenan Michael and thrower Beth Rohl qualified for the NCAA Championships June 8 in Eugene, Ore.

For the past 10 years, the only thing more predictable than MSU men’s basketball head coach Tom Izzo making the Final Four about every other season is his name being thrown into the mix as a candidate for every high-profile coaching job in the country. So, if no school or franchise has been able to lure the Iron Mountain, Mich. native away from Spartan Country before, why would this time be any different?
After recently being named Big Ten Golfer of the Year and chosen for the All-Big Ten first-team for the third consecutive season, MSU senior golfer Laura Kueny added one more accomplishment to her illustrious career by being named a second-team All-American by the National Golf Coaches Association, or NGCA.
Thirty-four total wins, an 11-2 record against in-state rivals and a place in the top-three in the conference in 13 different offensive categories is an impressive résumé for most college baseball teams. But for MSU baseball head coach Jake Boss Jr., achieving those feats wasn’t quite enough to complete an entirely successful season.
