An about 4 percent increase for residence hall housing rates for the 2012-13 academic year was announced at the Residence Halls Association, or RHA, meeting on Wednesday night.

The traffic circle at Bogue Street and Farm Lane has served its purpose for several years and tentatively has been green-lighted to be replaced with a traditional intersection next summer because of safety concerns, officials said. A few years ago, when Constantinos Coursaris visited Japan with a group of study abroad students, they got lost in a subway station looking for a train. Insisting on helping out, a local man showed them in the right direction, missing his own train in the process, said Coursaris, an assistant professor with the Department of Telecommunication, Information Studies and Media.
