New MSU dean of students position created

MSU is creating a "new dean of students and assistant provost for academic standards and student conduct" position, according to a university press release. The position will oversee student behavior and conduct, revise policies and processes and be a resource for students, faculty, and staff.

MSU nationally recognized for sustainability efforts

On Oct. 10, MSU was nationally recognized by the EPA with a 2018 Green Power Leadership Award. The award was received by MSU Director of Sustainability Amy Butler, and it acknowledges the work of America’s leading renewable power users and the work they are doing to foster a greener power market.

Conversations to Save the World held at Broad Art Museum

The Broad Museum held a talk Wednesday night to discuss different approaches to the environment. In the "Conversations to Save the World" talk, the environment was discussed through the lens of different professional backgrounds, including philosophical, theatrical, religious and artistic backgrounds.

Board of Trustee candidates discuss student inclusion, presidential search

A forum was held at the University Council meeting on Tuesday, where the four MSU Board of Trustees candidates answered questions asked by student representatives and faculty members. Questions at the forum included what the candidates' stances on calls for resignations are, student and faculty involvement on an administrative level, the presidential search process and more.

Listening phase of the MSU presidential search process comes to a close

The "listening phase" of the MSU presidential search process has come to a close after nearly a month of input sessions being held across campus. The two final input sessions were open to the public in the Kellogg Center, where many notable people from the MSU community were in attendance, including representatives from Reclaim MSU and Board of Trustee candidates.

ASMSU passes two pro-LGBT bills through policy committee

On National Coming Out Day, ASMSU's policy committee passed two bills through to General Assembly that would push for advocacy to amend the state-level Elliott-Larsen Civil Rights Act of 1976 to include protections on the basis of gender identity and sexual orientation, and support a change to the Food and Drug Administration’s policy to defer men who have had sexual relations with other men from donating blood.
