Tuesday’s visit marked one of the congresswoman’s final stops of her four-day Get-Out-the-Vote initiative, in which she visited areas such as Lansing, Brighton and the coffee shops of downtown East Lansing to encourage residents to vote.

“Vote, please vote,” Vail said. “No matter which side of that you are on, science says that social distancing, trying not to be in large indoor crowds, wearing masks if you are in those indoor areas as well, face coverings as well as maintaining that social distancing is going to mitigate risks to a large extent.”
Less than two hours before polls close for the Nov. 3 election, local precincts report steady voter turnout rates throughout the day.
"I'm ready for a United States where the president doesn't make news every two minutes because of his Twitter feed," Gov. Gretchen Whitmer said.
The order requires USPS to identify incoming ballots and use extraordinary measures, such as Priority Mail Express, to deliver them by 8 p.m.
People still flocked to the polls in some spots near the campus of Michigan State. It wasn’t nearly what's normally seen in a presidential election year, but it was still surprising.
According to Director of Media Relations Tracy Wimmer, the statewide same-day registrations have now increased to 18,822 as of 4:30 p.m. from the 12,530 same-day voter registrations reported two hours ago. The number of ballots returned as of 4:30 p.m. is 3.2 million.

The appeals court decision, which said the directive likely voted a procedural act, will now remain due to a lack of response from the Michigan Supreme Court.
“I need them to win," Rep. (MI-8) Elissa Slotkin said. "Students were a huge part of my victory in 2018 and young people have the power with their votes to completely change my election and the state’s election. I can’t overstate how important Michigan State students are to the trajectory of our elections here in Michigan.”
Michigan State secured a 27-24 victory over the University of Michigan, and hundreds took to the streets to celebrate in Spartan fashion: couch burning. This led to 24 separate fires in the city of East Lansing.

The increase in permits is the result of uncertainty of what will occur during and after the election, regardless of who wins, MSU criminal justice Professor David Carter said.
Ingham County voters will be doing more than selecting their elected officials on Election Day — they will also be voting on a series of statewide and local ballot proposals.
