Voters slated to reject proposal 1

Michigan voters are slated to keep the state constitution untouched, as of press time Tuesday. As of press time, 31 percent of precincts showed 68 percent of voters turned down Proposal 10-1, which would allow a constitutional convention to write the fifth constitution in Michigan’s history.

An update on the SIRS summer pilot study and a follow-up on a proposal for the merger of language departments was discussed by the Executive Committee of Academic Council, or ECAC, on Tuesday.

Shakespeare workshop comes to MSU

Like some high school students, Mason High School senior Myah VanWormer said understanding the works of William Shakespeare often is difficult. However, that hasn’t stopped her from participating in the Shakespeare Immersion Project held this week at MSU. The Shakespeare Immersion Project, put on by the Stratford Shakespeare Festival, located in Stratford, Ontario, selected 24 students from area high schools to participate in a weeklong Shakespeare workshop, said Edward Daranyi, resident teaching artist for the festival.
