Día de los Muertos a time for celebration but also a time for students to reconnect with their Mexican culture
The colorful imagery and vibrant atmosphere of the Michigan Indígena/Chicanx Community Alliance’s Dia de los Muertos event celebrated the lives of deceased family and friends, and reestablished connections to the culture that shaped them. “Dia de los muertos is about re-establishing connections to both our culture and to people who have passed away” one of the event’s organizers and graduate student Santos Ramos said. Many of the event’s organizers and attendants didn’t grow up celebrating dia de los muertos.
