The building at 547 and 549 E Grand River Ave, home to the Greater Lansing Visitor Center, apartment space and until recently Sweet Lorraine’s Fabulous Mac n’ Cheez!, has seen businesses come and go for decades, landlord Steve Perry said. Perry, a manager with Perry Investment Group, LLC, said his family has owned the building since it was built in 1946.

MSU baseball's series against Fresno State moved to Grand Rapids

The Spartans have altered their weekend series against Fresno State and will move the games from East Lansing, Mich., to Grand Rapids, Mich.  MSU announced Thursday afternoon in a press release that due to wet field conditions and inclement weather, the weekend series will be moved to Fifth Third Ballpark, home of the West Michigan Whitecaps.  What was intended to be a three-game series starting on Friday will now be condensed into two days.

College of Veterinary Medicine ranked top 5 in U.S.

For the second year in a row, MSU’s College of Veterinary Medicine has secured the top spot in the Big Ten for its veterinary program, according to recent rankings from Quacquarelli Symonds, a higher education data provider. The College of Veterinary Medicine holds the fifth spot nationally and the twelfth spot internationally for the program.

Nassar in the news: Alleged victims and attorneys challenge gag order

Ingham County Court Judge Rosemarie Aquilina issued a gag order last week to bar both parties in former MSU employee Laray Nassar’s alleged sexual assault case. Now more than 80 alleged Nassar victims and their attorneys are suing the judge claiming Nassar’s attorneys are “trampling (the plaintiffs’) First Amendment rights to freedom of speech and expression.”

MSU football experiences slight schedule changes for years ahead

MSU football will kick off their 2019 season on Aug. 31, when the Spartans host the University of Tulsa, FBSSchedules.com reported Wednesday. With the Spartans' addition of the Golden Hurricanes, their 2019 schedule is now tentatively completed. According to FBSchedules.com, the Golden Hurricanes will receive a $1.2 million guarantee for their participation in the game in what will be the first-ever meeting between the two schools. The Spartans are also slated to face Western Michigan and Arizona State at home in 2019. In conference play, MSU will host Indiana, Penn State, Illinois and Maryland and will go on the road to play Northwestern, Ohio State, Wisconsin, Michigan and Rutgers. This marks the second scheduling adjustment within the last week as the Spartans' 2017 matchup against Northwestern was moved back from Oct.

Almost everything was going smoothly for MSU baseball, at least for the first 20 games of the season. The Spartans came out of the gates 15-5 and were riding a high after sweeping Big Ten foe Illinois. There, the bats exploded to the tune of 41 runs over the three-game series.
