Mechanical engineering senior Taryn Price said she didn’t know enough about the MSU Board of Trustee candidates to make a decision.Price, who already cast her absentee ballot for today’s election, said she saw the candidates on the ballot, but she didn’t know anything about the race.“I didn’t even vote on them,” she said.

Kresge hosts faculty exhibit this month

Earlier this semester, studio art Professor Peter Glendinning aided studio art seniors in STA 492, Senior Seminar and Professional Practice. After helping most of his students put on their first art exhibit as part of the class, Glendinning, along with other faculty members, will exhibit artwork in the Faculty Exhibition 2000 at Kresge Art Museum starting Friday.“It’s going to be spectacular,” museum curator April Kingsley said.

When Robert Redford’s film adaptation of the Steven Pressfield novel “The Legend of Bagger Vance” opened Friday, the MSU Museum was a part of the long-awaited film.The museum contributed some of the props used in the film.The movie, which takes place in the 1930s in Georgia, uses nearly 30 pieces of vintage golf course equipment borrowed from the MSU Museum’s Kenyon T.

Freshmen find ways to win over Purdue

With nicknames like “Energizer bunny” and “Rudy” it’s obvious freshman outside hitter Jenny Rood and the rest of the freshmen bring something extra to the court when the MSU volleyball team plays.MSU head coach Chuck Erbe said the freshmen are more expressive on the court and that’s something the Spartans have been missing the last few years.“I think the freshmen are much more emotional in terms of how they express their passion for the game,” he said.

Olin outlines rules for campus smokers

The campus is a bit more colorful today thanks to Olin Health Center advocates’ Community Action Team. The team, known as CAT chalked off smoke-free areas around campus buildings Sunday, with slogans such as “Fresh Air is the Best Air,” “Clean Air Zone” and “Lungs at Work.” Smokers are asked not to smoke within a 30-foot arc of the entrance into any campus building.
