Missing students won't return to 'U'

Although nametags on their dorm-room doors waited to greet them last week, two MSU students whose disappearance sparked a nationwide search earlier this month won't be back on campus this fall. Danela Alfaro-Lopez and Justin Gouveia,who disappeared on July 26, plan to take the year off from MSU to live and work in Florida, according to Gouveia's mother, Leanne Gouveia.

Back to school means the early and midnight cram sessions. Unfortunately, my Sunday night ritual, which would have been watching new episodes of "The Sopranos," will not be a staple this semester. All of my anxious waiting for the new season to begin would finally be over except for the fact all of my hopes have just been dashed - the new season is not beginning until March.

After a first NCAA Tournament berth in school history, the MSU women's soccer team has its sights set on a Big Ten Championship. Junior midfielder Ashley Lawson said losing just two starters to graduation leaves her team with an advantage for the upcoming year. "Obviously the seniors will be missed," she said.

Yarmouth, Mass. - The mystery behind the two-week disappearance of two MSU students was solved as the couple was discovered in Orlando, Fla., the city where they met nearly five years ago. But the reason for disconnecting from their families and friends continues to puzzle those concerned.
