Trump fires MSU professor from Federal Reserve Board in first of its kind removal

After facing allegations of mortgage fraud, President Donald Trump has fired MSU professor Lisa Cook from her position as governor on the Federal Reserve Board effective immediately. The removal marks the first time a president has fired a governor from the board, sparking concerns over maintaining the separation of the independent central bank and the executive branch of government.

MSU student climbs Mount Kilimanjaro while on education abroad in Tanzania

This summer, environmental engineering sophomore Lily Connor traveled to Tanzania with the Designing Technology Solutions in Africa education abroad program to teach local schoolchildren how to code and use computers. While she was there, she had an urge she could not shake. It was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity she knew she didn’t want to pass up: climbing Mount Kilimanjaro.

COLUMN: A look back at my time at MSU

My time at Michigan State has not been easy, but I wouldn't trade it for another chance. The fact that it's coming to an end is surreal, but I'm glad that I'm leaving with no regrets. I don't regret changing my mind (again) about what I wanted to major in. I also don't regret taking an 8:00 a.m. biology lab my first semester here. If you ask me, everything happens for a reason.
