Michigan State athletics saw a mix of breakthrough and frustration this week, highlighted by women’s soccer making its first-ever Elite Eight and women’s basketball staying undefeated with dominant wins. While football and hockey both suffered tough losses, cross country, wrestling and men’s tennis delivered strong postseason performances. With key matchups ahead across several sports, the Spartans now turn their focus to finishing the fall season strong.
MSU athletics battles through highs and lows across the board
From statement wins to tough losses, Michigan State athletics delivered another packed week across campus. Men’s basketball kept its early momentum but showed lingering concerns at the free-throw and three-point lines. Women’s soccer rolled into the NCAA second round for the first time at home, and women’s hoops continued its dominant, high-pressure start behind a flawless outing from Isaline Alexander.
