More than 45 percent of MSU students are experiencing back pain, a national study revealed, and it might be related to students spending more time on the Internet. The study, performed by the National Health College Assessment in 2002, is being analyzed for information concerning students' physical health.

Spartans rout Badgers, 72-47

After giving up a season-high 78 points in its last game to Iowa, the No. 20 MSU women's basketball team had something to prove Thursday night. They did it, defeating Wisconsin, 72-47, at Breslin Center. The Spartans (17-4 overall, 7-3 Big Ten) got back to their defensive ways against the Badgers (8-12, 2-8). "It was a good game for us," MSU head coach Joanne P.

New Web site exhibits 'U' artwork

A new Web site created by the MSU Public Art on Campus Committee has put campus artwork on display for the world to see. The new site, publicart.msu.edu, allows surfers to take a look at the 903 pieces of art displayed in locations throughout campus. The committee was established in 1999 by the MSU Board of Trustees.

International aid to be focus of meeting

The Michigan chapter of Partners of the Americas is holding an informational meeting on campus to recruit interested students. The organization pairs students with experts in fields who help struggling communities in Latin-American countries, including Belize and the Dominican Republic, with ecological and social issues. The meeting will be at 10 a.m.

Former Spartan returns home for all-star classic

On this day three years ago, the MSU hockey team was No. 1 in the nation, Ron Mason was head coach and then-sophomore goaltender Ryan Miller was having his Hobey Baker Memorial Award-winning season. The team is now 16-13-1 as of yesterday afternoon, Mason is MSU athletics director, and Miller is in his second year with the Rochester (N.Y.) Americans, the minor-league affiliate of the Buffalo Sabres. But this weekend, the former Spartans standout returns to his home state to represent the American Hockey League in its 2004 AHL All-Star Classic in Grand Rapids.

Fraternity motivates youth

Lansing - Thursday morning, more than 100 Lansing middle- and high-school students assembled to be inspired. The Lansing chapter of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity hosted its 16th annual Youth Workshop for young black men at Harry Hill High School, 5815 Wise Road in Lansing.
