Hamilton gets no jail time

Lansing - The man accused of killing an MSU professor will not face jail time following a ruling made in Ingham County Circuit Court on Tuesday. Instead, Bramlett Hamilton, 36, was declared not guilty by reason of insanity and will spend at least 60 days in a hospital to have his mental health evaluated.

Agenda set for Senate meeting

Freshmen lead 'U' to capture tourney title

MSU women's golf captured the Lady Boilermaker Invitational tournament title over the weekend with a total team score of 918 (299-303-316). The tournament, held in West Lafayette, Ind., featured Big Ten opponents Indiana, Northwestern, Purdue and Iowa, who rounded out the top five. Redshirt freshman Rachel Meikle and freshman Heather Rose each shot a 230 to tie for sixth and lead the Spartans.

At a Friday board meeting where several members of the public spoke heatedly about substantial changes within the university, most comments were geared toward the MSU College of Human Medicine's possible move to Grand Rapids. Evaluations may change to online

Class time for end-of-the-semester reviews and tying up loose ends might no longer be taken up with course and instructor evaluations if experimental online versions currently being tested are deemed successful. The two rating systems - Student Instructional Rating System and the Student Opinion of Courses and Teaching - are being completed online as part of a pilot trial this semester by three academic departments. SIRS rates instructional practices in the classroom, and SOCT collects feedback on undergraduate courses.

The State News' discouragement of Eco's power plant forum was disturbing, and the editorial had many statements that were just plain incorrect ("Relax, Eco" SN 3/15). We decided to hold a forum to get our questions answered and engage the community in the dialogue.

Officials: Revisions for bylaws needed

On average, the Residence Halls Association passes about six bills per weekly meeting. Generally, at least one of those bills proposes a change to the constitution or bylaws, but officials in the organization say they are unconcerned with the revisions.
