Mich. Peace Team assists as humanitarian watchdog

It is just a wall in the Arizona desert, but it divides two very different viewpoints on what to do at the border between the United States and Mexico. In the hot July weather, Michigan Peace Team member Sayrah Namaste ventured out into the Sonoma desert to work with No More Deaths, a volunteer humanitarian organization that finds and aids Mexican migrants in dire need of water or medical help. Wilcox aims to further ties in trip to Thailand

Provost Kim Wilcox and other university administrators and faculty members will travel to Thailand on Saturday to increase MSU's international ties and further research opportunities in the southeastern Asian country. Freshman trio gels with on-ice chemistry, off-ice friendship

They've combined for 14 goals and 25 total points this season. They combined for two huge goals in the 3-3 CCHA-opening tie at Michigan, and they've all been drafted by various NHL clubs. But the greatest part about the trio of Justin Abdelkader, Tim Kennedy and Tim Crowder is that they're all just freshmen. "They have good chemistry; they seem to mesh really well," MSU head coach Rick Comley said of the line.

Hall of fame contest deadline approaches

Today is the final day to apply for the fifth annual The Black History Month Multicultural Heroes Hall of Fame Case Competition, "Passing the Torch of Justice." The competition is sponsored by the Eli Broad College of Business and Multicultural Business Programs. In the competition, groups made up of at least three MSU undergraduate students must explain, within 10 minutes, why they believe their individual hero deserves a place in the Multicultural Heroes Hall of Fame. The application must be completed, along with a 250-word essay and a summary of the reason for competing by 5 p.m. The competition will take place Feb.

But now, the conference has risen back near the top of the college basketball world with five teams ranked in the latest Associated Press Top 25 Poll with two more teams receiving votes. The Big Ten season has already become a dog fight and the league should produce some classic games before the season is over as each team will look to prove its worth over one another in a push for higher seeding in the NCAA Tournament. Local candidate hits trail to garner support for upcoming Senate election

Lansing — With a "Lansing, Michigan" pin tacked to the lapel of her navy blue blazer, Melissa Sue Robinson waited patiently in the doorway of a local business. The self-described "experienced door-knocker" is planning on personally introducing herself to as many Lansing area residents and businesses as possible so they can become more familiar with her. "I plan on going door to door so people can meet me face to face and know who I am," the state Senate candidate said.
