WEB UPDATE: Injuries will force Izzo to go big

With his perimeter options off the bench hovering close to zero, MSU men's basketball head coach Tom Izzo might have no choice but to go big. Very big. With freshman forward Raymar Morgan likely out until the Big Ten season (early January) with a stress fracture in his shin, and sophomore guard Maurice Joseph also out at least that long after suffering a stress reaction in his right foot Saturday, Izzo said Monday he likely will experiment with a three big-men lineup for at least part of Saturday's game against Chicago State (7 p.m., Breslin Center). "We're going to have to make a lot of adjustments as a staff," Izzo said. The switch — which would have some combination of sophomore forward Marquise Gray, sophomore centers Idong Ibok and Goran Suton and junior center Drew Naymick on the floor at the same time — would give the Spartans (9-2) a phenomenal size advantage but would disrupt much of their existing game plan. Izzo said a new half-court offense would have to be implemented to accomodate the big lineup.
