The rally is a tradition that first began in 1972. It has brought the MSU Black community together to both celebrate Black culture and give voice to issues that the community faces, all through sketches, song and dance.
“If you take insights from psychological science, and you apply them to problems that need solutions, and you do that directly in an informed way, it's a really timely opportunity to do something that matters," Lucas said. "I saw an opportunity to do science that would make a difference.”
The Spartans are ranked in the top 20 for the first time in two years.
A third generation Spartan, Lieutenant Commander Sean Newman didn't hesitate when given the opportunity to watch MSU aboard the USS Abraham Lincoln.
Members of the community will have access to vaccinations against influenza and the bivalent COVID-19 vaccinations and their boosters.
“When I was provost I would say I have 50,000 students, 5,700 faculty and academic staff and then I’ve got about 20,000 souls,” Woodruff said. “I count every cow, every sheep, every goat, every insect in entomology, I count every soul as part of us.”
This weekend, thousands gathered at MSU for the state’s largest model train show and sale. Attendees and dealers found nostalgia, connection and simple mesmerization in the merchandise and displays.
To solicit donations, every person who donates will be entered into a raffle for a variety of prizes – such as pottery pieces made at Hannah Community Center. The drive will accept donations until Tuesday, Nov. 15.
Five Spartans had at least 11 points as MSU moved to 3-0 to start the season.

On Friday, Michigan State Volleyball fell 3-0 to the Fighting Illini but came back Saturday for a 3-0 sweep against the Northwestern Wildcats – ending their 12-game losing streak.
Michigan State’s tight ends have been getting in on the action during the team’s last two wins over Rutgers and Illinois. One of these players was fifth-year tight end Daniel Barker who recorded season-high numbers against the Scarlet Knights.
The last time the Broncos came away with a win against MSU was 40 years ago in 1982 in Grand Rapids. MSU is 7-3 all-time at home against Western.
Coming into Saturday's game, the team had only made two field goals in the season, one against Illinois and one against Maryland. In preparation for their matchup with the Scarlet Knights, Head Coach Mel Tucker and the Spartans decided to change the way they practiced kicking.
The Spartans were able to actually move the ball with some consistency throughout the afternoon both through the air and on the ground. That improved look on offense can be tied directly to the improved rushing attack.
Michigan State football is one game closer to bowl eligibility. The Spartans defeated the Rutgers Scarlet Knights 27-21 Saturday in East Lansing thanks to solid offensive performances from both the run and the pass game.
Despite dominating in total yards, time of possession and total plays, Michigan State went to the locker room with just a seven-point lead against Rutgers.
After sweeping the Buckeyes, the Spartans are now 8-3-1 on the season, earning themselves the number two spot in the Big Ten standings.
"For our kids to show the resilience to play from behind to come back in overtime after that late equalizing goal — I have been doing this a long time and there's not very many teams that come back from a moment like that emotionally and still come on to execute," Hosler said. "I am so happy for our group, tough as they showed, and this should serve us well moving forward."
