Spartans fall to Ohio State, 5-2

One of the major flaws of the MSU hockey team this season has been making mistakes that turn into goals for the opposing team. Following a 3-0 shutout win Thursday night, the Spartans made some costly errors that turned into goals late and they would fall to Ohio State at Munn Ice Arena, 5-2. “Ohio State came out real hard, as we expected that they would,” head coach Tom Anastos said.

Black Student Alliance condemns racist incidents at Board of Trustees meeting

In a tense and emotionally charged atmosphere, four members of MSU’sBlack Student Alliance, or BSA, denounced what they call the university’s perceived racist culture and targeted the university administration and the Board of Trustees for their response to a recent string of racially charged campus incidents during the board’s Friday meeting.

A 19-year-old female student reported her bike stolen between noon Oct. 10 and 10 a.m. Oct. 13, MSU police Sgt. Florene McGlothian-Taylor said.

Hockey shuts out Ohio State in home opener

After a disappointing start to the season, it appears a little home cooking was all Tom Anastos and the MSU hockey team needed. In the regular season home opener at Munn Ice Arena on Thursday, the Spartans got a strong performance from senior goalkeeper Drew Palmisano along with three combined goals from three different players to shut down Ohio State, 3-0. “Overall, I thought that was a good team victory,” junior defenseman Torey Krug said.

The Muslim Students’ Association met Thursday night to discuss legislation in the Michigan House they say would severely limit the religious rights of many cultural groups across the state and address what they say is a lingering prejudice against Arab-Americans.
