Hockey shuts out Ohio State in home opener

After a disappointing start to the season, it appears a little home cooking was all Tom Anastos and the MSU hockey team needed. In the regular season home opener at Munn Ice Arena on Thursday, the Spartans got a strong performance from senior goalkeeper Drew Palmisano along with three combined goals from three different players to shut down Ohio State, 3-0. “Overall, I thought that was a good team victory,” junior defenseman Torey Krug said.

Student groups discuss legislation, prejudice

The Muslim Students’ Association met Thursday night to discuss legislation in the Michigan House they say would severely limit the religious rights of many cultural groups across the state and address what they say is a lingering prejudice against Arab-Americans.

Late head start

Justin McAdams has spent much of his freshman year struggling to keep up with the pace of college. His classes begin at 8:30 a.m. most mornings and don’t stop until late in the afternoon. He sometimes stops at the library between classes just to get a nap in.
