MSU, Detroit collaborate on urban farm

MSU will invest about $1.5 million in a new collaborative effort between the university and the city of Detroit on an urban farming project, the university announced last week. The program MetroFoodPlus Innovation Cluster @ Detroit will allow the university to help promote urban farming in the city, and will help MSU do research and implement new farming strategies.

Man charged in death of former MSU student denied bond

The man allegedly responsible for the death of former MSU freshman Olivia Pryor was denied a bond request today in 54B district court, 101 Linden Street. Marquez Dominique Cannon, a 17 year old from Eastpointe, Mich. is facing charges of criminal sexual conduct, injury to an incapacitated victim, selling or furnishing to a minor causing death and criminal sexual conduct force or coercion.

MSU home to sport camps

The summer season signals the end to varsity athletics at MSU. But even though the fields are vacant, the bleachers are empty and the buzz of football season remains several weeks away, it doesn’t stop thousands of young athletes from making the trip to East Lansing. In a collaborative effort between the MSU athletics department and residential hospitality services, MSU’s campus is the host to camps related to 17 sports ranging from basketball to wrestling during the summer months.

Mich. citizens warned to be careful using fireworks

With the addition of a Michigan law permitting the purchase of more powerful fireworks, several East Lansing firework businesses are seeing an increase in interest, and the law enforcement of MSU and East Lansing are stepping up their game. According to the Michigan Fireworks Safety Act, which was signed by Gov.
