Federal judge strikes down Michigan's gay marriage ban

Michigan’s constitutional ban on same-sex marriage was struck down in a federal court ruling on Friday.“The Court finds that the MMA impermissibly discriminates against same-sex couples in violation of the Equal Protection Clause because the provision does not advance any conceivable legitimate state interest,” Judge Bernard Friedman said in a written opinion, echoing rulings of other states.
