'Chicago' to arrive at MSU's Wharton Center

From April 8 to April 13, “Chicago,” the longest-running American musical in Broadway history, will arrive at Michigan State University’s Wharton Center for Performing Arts. Directed by David Hyslop, with choreography by Gregory Butler, based on the original direction of Tony Award-winning Walter Bobbie and original choreography by Tony Award-winning Ann Reinking, the musical will be shown at the Cobb Great Hall.

International Student Association celebrates home away from home with annual ball

"Home away from home" was a theme established at the beginning of the school year’s homecoming parade for Michigan State University’s International Student Association (ISA). This theme was carried through to the ISA Ball on April 4 at the Kellogg Center.

MSU's UAB hosts 'Dress To Impress Live'

On Monday, March 31, attendees gathered at Michigan State University’s Student Union to participate in the University Activities Board (UAB)’s “Dress To Impress Live!” The event was based on Roblox's online game “Dress To Impress.” Just like in the online version, each round consisted of three participants who were given about five and a half minutes to create an outfit.

'La Cenerentola' proves opera can be funny too

Twice a year the Michigan State University College of Music hosts an opera at Fairchild Theatre. The spring semester show was performed March 26-30. Directed by MSU professor of voice Melanie Helton, this spring’s show was Gioachino Rossini’s "La Cenerentola."

MSU alumni return to perform at the Wharton Center

On Tuesday, March 25, the Jazz at Lincoln Center’s “New Orleans Songbook” will make an appearance at the Wharton Center for Performing Arts’ Cobb Great Hall. The “New Orleans Songbook” will be led by music director, arranger and pianist Luther S. Allison, who received his Master of Music in jazz studies from MSU in 2019, and will also feature bass player Liany Mateo, who received her bachelor's degree in jazz studies, majoring in bass performance, in 2020.

'Dentro (inside)' brings topic of silence surrounding sexual abuse to MSU Wharton Center

Last Thursday, “Dentro (inside): A True Story, If You Think So” made its U.S. debut at Michigan State University’s Wharton Center, bringing a dramatization of real-life conversations about sexual abuse to stage. Written, directed and performed by acclaimed Italian playwright Giuliana Musso, this play confronts the silence and societal challenges surrounding survivors.

Game developers, professors present benefits of gaming for language learning

MSU Libraries partnered with various university departments to host Video Games for Learning Japanese (and Other Languages) on March 21. Gaming developers and teaching faculty presented and demonstrated elements of video and board games that help students learn primarily Japanese, but also other languages such as Swahili, French and Portuguese.

Over 200 Michigan State University students, staff, faculty and family members gathered at the MSU Kellogg Center for the annual mega Shabbat on Friday evening. This event, which first started in the spring of 2019, is the largest Shabbat dinner on campus.

Bbno$ announced as MSU Spring Concert headliner

The headliner of the 2025 Spring Concert has been announced as bbno$, a Canadian rapper and singer most known for his song "Lalala" with Y2K, which went viral in 2019. The concert will take place on March 27 at the Breslin Center. Tickets are now on sale on the Spartan Athletic Ticket Office.

'Life of Pi' transforms the Wharton Center stage
