For the transportation- and money-impaired, participating in any type of winter sport is usually an unattainable fantasy. Unless you're creative. Where there's snow or ice, there's some sort of winter sport, and for those of you who have set foot on campus lately, you know the Lansing area has both. Lansing resident Robin Harris, 22, enjoys free winter sports often at Quinton Park in Lansing. Harris said he usually gets a group of friends together to go sledding in the park, and even though they're usually the only adults partaking in the fun, it's worth it. "I'll get a few friends together, maybe five or six people and go in the evening," he said.

Detroit announces date for electronic music fest
Good news for electronic music fans - the Detroit Electronic Music Festival is scheduled to return to the city's riverfront Memorial Day weekend. Although the fate of the music festival has been undetermined since May, Pop Culture Media and a rival group led by techno pioneer Derrick May have presented plans to Detroit city officials. The large crowd of more than a million is expected to return this year.

The duo which brought us 1999's "Being John Malkovich" have teamed up once again to make one of the most creative films since, well, "Being John Malkovich." Furs fans ought to try 'Trysome'
The Psychedelic Furs made some amazing albums back in the day. As the end of the 80s neared, however, so did the eventual 1991 break-up of the Furs - leaving lead singer Richard Butler off the airwaves. His return found him commanding the microphone for Love Spit Love's 1994 self-titled release. The group's second effort, "Trysome Eatone" proves Butler's voice is not only as strong as it was in the 80s but also more hypnotic. The 12-track album is a masterpiece of full-bodied guitar sounds, Butler's solid lyrics, an interesting use of synthesizer and an upbeat tempo that reveals an evolved sound with obvious Furs roots. "Trysome Eatone" flows nearly perfectly from beginning to end, with every song correctly placed and no ugly duckling bobbing between tracks. Although Butler's lyrical style includes repetition, it doesn't become repulsive.
