MSU's vice president for governmental affairs brought a touch of Green and White to the Republican National Convention. Steve Webster helped lead a group of Michigan legislators on a tour Tuesday morning of the University of Minnesota, explaining the importance of state funding for universities.

On the last night of her stay at the Republican National Convention, Maria George mingled inside the Karma Night Club with her family. It was the international relations junior's second soiree with the national convention -- in fact, it's becoming a sort of family tradition.

An almost comical steel vault with a lock that is more reminiscent of a steering wheel from a boat in "Pirates of the Caribbean" sits tucked away in one corner of a Capitol Building office in Lansing. This is, after all, the former office of the state treasurer. When remodeling the office, construction workers attempted to remove the safe until the floor started to give, so it will sit in this office indefinitely.

Plan could rearrange primary schedules

The National Association of Secretaries of State, or NASS, backs a plan to change presidential primary rules and stop the race for states to hold early primaries, but officials said the plan is not likely to be approved anytime soon.

Obama visits Mich. workers, shares vision

Barack Obama’s campaign slogan went from “Yes we can” to “Yes we will” as he encouraged his supporters to make sure Michigan is a blue state in November. The Democratic presidential nominee made three appearances in Michigan during the weekend, including a Sunday rally in Battle Creek and Monday appearances in Detroit and Monroe.

History was made in Denver on Wednesday when Illinois Sen. Barack Obama officially secured the Democratic presidential nomination through intervention from his former rival, Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y. In a surprise move, Obama appeared with Sen. Joe Biden, D-Del., later that night. Biden had just accepted the Democratic bid for the vice presidency.

In an effort to unite the Democratic Party, Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y., officially released her delegates Wednesday. Finally. At long last, Clinton took her hard-earned delegates aside, thanked them, and for the first time, encouraged them to vote for and work to elect Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., who will presumably accept his official nomination tonight.
