Masked man robs nightclub

For the third time this week, police are investigating a robbery involving a suspect wearing a mask from the movie “Scream.” Lansing police Lt. Bruce Ferguson said a suspect entered the Deja Vu nightclub, 1000 W. Jolly Road, in Lansing, at about 11:45 p.m. Tuesday and robbed the club at gunpoint, making off with an undisclosed amount of money.

Mich. has until Nov. 1 to enact state budget

Legislators have little more than a week to get a budget enacted before a Nov. 1 deadline if Michigan is expected solve its budget crisis. Michigan still faces about $440 million in cuts since the last continuation budget was signed Oct. 1. So far, no bills enacting any cuts have been introduced.

Simon participates in conference on U.S., China relations

MSU President Lou Anna K. Simon participated in a conference this week in Washington D.C. hosted by former President George Bush and the National Association of State Universities and Land-Grant Colleges to discuss relations between the U.S. and China with other education administrators and officials.
