Season over for players involved in U-M incident

MSU head coach Rick Comley issued season-ending suspensions to two players following an incident Saturday when the MSU hockey team faced off against Michigan at Yost Ice Arena. Comley suspended sophomore forward Corey Tropp and freshman forward Andrew Conboy after the two attacked U-M’s Steve Kampfer in the final minutes of U-M’s 5-3 win.

Sophomores step up, lead way in win against OSU

Throughout the season, players on the MSU men’s basketball team have said that on any given day, a different player can lead the Spartans to victory. Men's tennis sweeps two weekend opponents

The MSU men’s tennis team continued its early success in the 2009 season, winning a doubleheader Saturday at the MSU Indoor Tennis Facility. The Spartans earned the sweep by defeating Cleveland State 5-2 in the morning and Youngstown State in the nightcap 7-0.

BASKETBALL

Picture-perfect player

About 45 minutes after another grueling practice, sophomore Kalin Lucas stands with one of his assistant coaches near the far end of the court. Almost all of his teammates have vanished into the locker room, but Lucas stays on the balls of his feet. He wipes a few beads of sweat off his silky forehead as he listens to instructions from his coach.
