Michigan State’s men’s basketball program has landed its second verbal commitment in the 2025 recruiting class.

Four-star forward Cam Ward announced his pledge to MSU head coach Tom Izzo and the Spartans on Tuesday. From Largo High School in Upper Marlboro, MD, Ward joins fellow DMV native and forward Jordan Scott in Izzo’s 2025 class.

The 6-foot-7, 210-pound Ward is a physical prospect and plays inside the arc offensively. He will add more length on the wing to an MSU that’s needed it in recent years. Ward is a consensus four-star recruit, ranked No. 50 overall by 247Sports and No. 2 in the state of Maryland in the Class of 2025.

Since the end of last season, Izzo has picked up three 6-foot-7 wings: Frankie Fidler from the transfer portal this summer, along with Ward and Scott in recruitment within the last two weeks.

Ward made his official visit to MSU on Sept. 27, according to 247Sports. He chose the Spartans over other finalists Virginia, Maryland and Kansas State. Ward also received offers from Texas, Tennessee, Marquette, Syracuse, Arkansas and Villanova.

Ward’s high-volume rebounding ability should mix well with Izzo, who recently said he wants improved rebounding production from his team this season and beyond.
