On Friday, Feb. 23, the Michigan State women's gymnastics team was crowned the Big Ten champions in the regular season after beating Rutgers 197.275-195.275.
This is the second year in a row that Michigan State has won the Big Ten and the first time any Big Ten team has won consecutive Big Ten regular season titles since 2020.
Michigan State played in the Big Five Meet at the Penn State Rec Hall, where the Spartans battled and won against No. 15 Minnesota, No. 23 Nebraska, No. 14 Ohio State and Rutgers. With the wins, Michigan State is 12-3 in overall play and 9-0 in conference meets.
“(It’s) not a surprise to me, they always say (the) sky's the limit for this program,” head coach Mike Rowe said about his team being back-to-back champions of the Big Ten.
Rowe also mentioned that despite the good performance, there’s still room for improvement for this talented, high-flying squad for future seasons.
Looking ahead, MSU women's gymnastics will go up against New Hampshire at home on Friday, March 1 at 7 p.m. Streaming will be available on Big Ten Plus.
