Environmental biology and zoology junior Nate Statly has been identified as a one of the three hospitalized students from the Feb. 13 shooting on Michigan State University's campus.
His identity was confirmed by a GoFundMe page written by his older brother, Josh Statly. The statement for the GoFundMe says Nate is in critical condition and that doctors have told the family, he will have a "long and difficult" recovery.
“He’s the light in our family and never stops making us laugh, and he is loved by so many,” Josh Statly writes in the GoFundMe statement.
Josh Statly wrote of his brother Nate as a hobbyist with a variety of outdoor interests such as skiing, fly fishing and running.
This GoFundMe confirms the identity of a third hospitalized student from the shooting. Others include international student John Hao and hospitality business junior Guadalupe Huapilla-Perez.
Sparrow Spokesperson Corey Alexander said the hospital cannot confirm the identities of patients but said as of this morning, one hospitalized student is in fair condition while three are in serious but stable condition and one more remains in critical condition.
