Ingham County under heat advisory until 6 p.m.

The National Weather Service, or NWS, has issued a heat advisory for Wednesday, Aug. 3 in Ingham County, effective from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Temperatures of over 100 degrees are expected.

According to the NWS's website, people should "drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors."

The state of Michigan's website urges individuals to monitor themselves and others for heat-related illnesses, such as heat cramps, exhaustion or stroke, and seek medical attention if necessary.

NWS also warns that thunderstorms are likely on Wednesday evening, with some storms producing heavy rainfall in the evening.
