—Michigan State Athletics has announced via email that a new COVID-19 policy has taken effect for fans attending indoor campus sporting events. The university now requires either proof of vaccination OR a negative COVID-19 test 72 hours before your arrival to the arena.
The mask mandate remains in effect and the COVID-19 vaccination requirement applies to attendees ages 12 and up.
To meet the vaccine requirement, fans must show their vaccination card along with a photo ID matching the name on the card. Digital images of vaccine cards will be accepted.
If one is unable to show proof of vaccination, they must bring a photo ID and a print out of their negative COVID test taken within 72 hours before event start time. Testing opportunities will not be available on site. For those who need help locating a site, please visit the state website.
The next home event, and first under this policy, is the men's basketball game versus Nebraska on Jan. 5 at 7 p.m. Refunds will not be granted, as all guests are able to enter facilities with a negative COVID test, even if they are unable or unwilling to show proof of vaccination status. Fans who are unable to attend are encouraged to transfer their tickets to others who are or offer their tickets for sale through StubHub.
This announcement comes shortly after President Samuel L. Stanley Jr. moved the first three weeks of spring semester back to virtual learning.
