According to the Housing Assignments Office, they respect that different students need to make different choices.

“We recognize home means different things to different Spartans, and not all have a permanent home they can return to," Stanley said in the email.

From now to April 20, the university will be open and the residence and dining halls are open and operating. 

For on-campus housing

In order to make campus more safe and secure, the Housing Assignments Office would like to know who tends to stay in on-campus housing.

In order to do this, students will need to complete an Intent to Stay form in their My Housing accounts on liveon.msu.edu. 

Residence Education and Housing Services, or REHS, will also continue housing operations which includes service desk hours. If there are changes made it will be updated on the Live On website.

Both MSU and REHS facilities team members are increasing sanitation efforts within campus buildings and residence halls with germicidal disinfectant, according to the email.

People who intend to leave their on-campus residence hall or apartment will have green carts available for use in moving assistance.

If students decide to return to on-campus housing by April 20, they do not need to check out of their on-campus housing, but if they do not plan on returning to on campus housing, then they need to complete the check-out process by going to your service desk.

The university will not be issuing refunds. 

For dining halls

Residential dining halls and venues will only be open for breakfast 7 to 11 a.m., 11a.m. to 2 p.m. for lunch, 5 to 8 p.m. for dinner, and 8 to 10 p.m. for late-night dining.

Dining halls will be closed from 2 to 5 p.m to sanitize. REHS facilities teams will also be sanitizing daily at 4 a.m. Retail locations will be fully operational during this time. This is done to ensure guests are safe while they dine on campus. 

While all entry and takeout will continue as normal within the dining halls, all food selections will be pre-plated and self-serve will be closed. Silverware, salt and pepper will be provided to guests at each venue. 

Student team members can continue working with MSU and REHS. If student members do choose to return home they will need to contact their supervisors.
