The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Michigan has jumped to 334, according to a press release.
More cases are confirmed after the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, or MDHHS, expanded availability of tests in hospitals and state laboratories including commercial and clinical labs.
“We are pleased to announce that we are now able to provide testing results from hospitals and other entities outside of our state laboratory,” said Dr. Joneigh Khaldun, chief medical executive and chief deputy for health. “We knew there were additional people in Michigan with COVID-19 that had not yet been tested. This emphasizes the need to continue to practice social distancing and other community mitigation practices to help slow the spread of this disease.”
Reports are released by the state daily at around 2 p.m. The data reflected each day is from the previous day's result as of midnight.
Editor's Note: This article was updated at 5:25 pm to reflect that state officials removed two positive cases from its publicly released data at 5pm due because of 'indeterminent' test results from Genesee and Isabella County.
