An anti-Semitic swastika was found outside the Pi Kappa Alpha (PIKE) fraternity house at Michigan State early Saturday morning.
An MSU student said they were one of the first to see the swastika, who requested anonymity for privacy reasons. They said the swastika was located on the side of the house closest to the Marriott Hotel and was accompanied with “Isabela is gay.”
The source said they immediately took a picture of the image and then reported it to MSU Hillel, a Jewish organization that reported a destruction of property in November.
“Throughout my education I’ve dealt with students and their hateful words, but when you put a swastika on the ground like that, that’s Nazi propaganda to me and that can’t be taken lightly,” they said.
The East Lansing Police Department confirmed via email that the incident was reported to them and that there is an open police report on the matter.
Both the MSU Hillel and the PIKE fraternity house are located on Charles Street. The State News has reached out to MSU Hillel but has yet to receive a response.
"Early Saturday morning, a former member of Iota Iota Chapter drew an antisemitic symbol on the chapter’s property. As soon as the chapter became aware of the member’s actions, he was suspended," said chapter President Mark Williams said in a statement. "The chapter has a zero-tolerance policy for any form of discrimination or hate speech and is fully cooperating with the East Lansing Police Department in their investigation."
